Izglītojošā programma Latviešu valoda – manas valsts valoda. Vadītāja vada ekskursiju skolēnu grupai.

The 19th Century: A Time of Great Change

This educational programme is designed for students in grades 4–9 and is adapted for two age groups: grades 4–6 and grades 7–9.

The programme encourages students’ interest in the Latvian language and promotes understanding of its importance for the existence of the state and culture, for the creation of a national state, and for the development and continuity of the nation. The activities are based on the exhibition “On the Road to the Latvian State: Serf, Farm Owner, Citizen.”

During the session, students will:

  • examine the Indo-European language family tree displayed in the exhibition,
  • read a poem written in old print found in the Turaida Swiss House in 1828,
  • discover how one individual’s contribution can influence an entire nation through the example of Atis Kronvalds,
  • try to recognise familiar objects by their historical names,
  • and sharpen their thinking skills by creating mime interpretations of images used in the exhibition.
